Consultation closed on Monday 31 May 2021.
We want to hear from the Selwyn community about what you think of the proposed activities in the new buildings and spaces that are part of the Council’s Reconnect Project at the Pines Resource Recovery Park in Rolleston.
The improvements to the Selwyn's Resource Recovery Park facility are part of Council’s wider efforts to minimise waste in the district.
The Reconnect Project kicked off in 2019 and encourages waste minimisation in a number of innovative ways. Reconnect is about reconnecting people with the environment, and getting people to think differently about waste. This includes extracting materials from the waste stream, developing a reuse shop and salvage materials yard, creating an education centre, a garden hub, and providing spaces where waste products and materials can be repurposed or upcycled, rather than landfilled.
We've got some initial ideas for how these buildings and spaces could be used and want to hear what you think of them and whether you've got any other suggestions to include.
Let us know what you think.

The Reconnect Project involves a number of buildings and spaces that will house a reuse shop, salvage yard, education centre, micro enterprise units and a garden hub. We've got some initial plans for how they could be used and want to hear what you think of them and whether you've got any other suggestions that we should consider.
Before you start with the survey you will need to register (don’t worry, it’s quick!) - so that we can keep you up to date about this project and any other Council work you might be interested in.
Please complete this 5-10 minute survey and help inform how we can get the Selwyn community to think differently about waste. In the survey you can focus on one particular aspect, eg salvage yard, or all - it's totally up to you.
The survey closes on Monday 31 May 2021.
