Rolleston town centre updates - roading, parking, pedestrian and public spaces
Consultation has concluded
We’re seeking your feedback on the latest proposed updates to plans for the new Rolleston town centre – designed to be a vibrant and engaging destination for Rolleston and the wider Selwyn district.
A master plan for the town centre was adopted by the Council in 2014 after extensive community consultation. Key elements of the plan have also been confirmed through Long-Term Plans and other consultation over the past six years.
We’ve recently updated some elements of the plan in response to consultation and in-depth commercial research. Proposed changes include fresh designs and layout changes for the proposed reserve space (which will be part of a separate consultation process later in September) along with some roading, car parking, pedestrian and public spaces. These changes were based on feedback from the community and professional recommendations, and will help ensure the town centre is more accessible, appropriately sized, safe and economically sustainable.
The new plans are now available to view, and we want your feedback on the proposed design and layout changes to roading, car parking, pedestrian links and the town square. The feedback sought in this process will inform further stages of the development.
Work on aspects of Rolleston town centre is already under way. The first stage has started with Tennyson Street being upgraded and Te Ara Ātea under construction.
