Thank you to everyone who made a submission on our Proposed District Plan. The submission period is now closed and we are working through all of the 460 submissions we received to create a summary of the decisions requested by submitters. We will make this summary publicly available in early 2021.



What’s next?

Summary of submissions

We have received 460 submissions and we are now working through them to summarise all the submission points received. This part of the process is likely to be completed in early 2021.

Once we have completed summarising the submissions, we will produce a Summary of Submissions report. This will be publicly notified. We will contact all submitters to let them know when the Summary of Submissions report is available to view.

Further submissions

Once we’ve notified the Summary of Submissions report, we will call for further submissions.

Please note: This is not a call for new submission points, but an opportunity to support, oppose or comment on someone else’s submission made already. We will let the public know who can make a further submission and how to do this when we reach this stage.

When we have received all further submissions, our planning team will begin considering all the submissions received in detail. They will then produce a series of officer reports with recommendations regarding the submission points made.

Please note: This process will take at least six months and may involve meetings with submitters to further understand their points.

Hearings

Later in the process, we will hold the Proposed District Plan Hearings. At these hearings independent commissioners will consider all submissions and Officer Report recommendations.

Again, this process will take several months. We will let submitters know when we reach this stage and how they can speak to their submission at a hearing.

    Your proposed district plan website says submissions close on Friday 11 December, however the public notice (PDF) on the same website says submissions close on 4th December. Please can you confirm which is correct?

    Hi Claire,

    The correct date for when submissions on the Proposed District Plan close is 5pm Friday 11 December. We have extended the submission period by one week. For more information see this Q&A.
